College Counseling FAQs

Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes—statewide in Tennessee and California via secure telehealth.
Do you take insurance?
I’m out-of-network and can provide a superbill; many students receive partial reimbursement depending on their plan.
Can therapy help with test anxiety?
Yes. We’ll combine CBT skills, mindfulness, and performance routines you can use before and during exams.
Is EMDR right for me?
If past experiences are fueling current triggers, we’ll evaluate together whether EMDR is appropriate and map out a plan.
How long are sessions and what do they cost?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Rates vary by service; limited sliding-scale spots may be available for students. You’ll receive a good-faith estimate before starting.
What if I’m not sure what to talk about yet?
That’s okay. The first session is focused on getting to know you, clarifying goals, and identifying 1–2 practical next steps so you leave with direction.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. Your privacy matters. Except for specific legal or safety exceptions discussed in informed consent, what you share stays in therapy. Telehealth is delivered via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments can be rescheduled or canceled with 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee so we can hold time responsibly.
